CIT Brings Computer Hardware Servicing Program to Barangay Nabbuan

The University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS), through the College of Information Technology (CIT) Extension Unit, conducted a Community Computer Hardware Servicing Program during the Barangay Assembly of Barangay Nabbuan, Santiago City, Isabela, on October 24, 2026, providing hardware inspection, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and basic repair assistance to residents and teachers in the community.

The extension team transformed the Barangay Community Center into a temporary technology service station where faculty members, students, and personnel assisted participants in diagnosing and addressing computer-related concerns. The program accommodated up to 20 computer units on a first-come, first-served basis.

CIT students worked alongside faculty members and extension personnel throughout the activity, allowing them to apply classroom knowledge in a community setting. Through hands-on participation, students gained practical experience in computer diagnostics, technical communication, problem-solving, and customer assistance.

The program also promoted the responsible use and maintenance of technology by encouraging participants to explore repair and maintenance options before replacing computer equipment. Organizers emphasized the importance of informed decision-making in extending the useful life of devices and reducing electronic waste.

In addition to providing technical assistance, the activity strengthened the partnership between ULS and Barangay Nabbuan by making technology support more accessible to community members. Residents consulted with the extension team regarding device concerns, received technical guidance, and learned basic maintenance practices to help improve the performance and longevity of their computers.

The activity is part of the ULS DigiSulong Program, a CIT extension project focused on digital literacy, ICT skills development, and technology transfer to empower communities through digital innovation and inclusive technology access.
