The College of Medicine and Allied Medical Programs (CMAMP) Extension Unit of the University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS) conducted a capacity-building program for Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) in Nabbuan, Santiago City, on October 26, 2026, strengthening their competencies in medicine management and community health service delivery.
Volunteer Pharmacy students facilitated the training, providing practical instruction on the proper dispensing, handling, recording, and monitoring of medicines and supplements. The activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of BHWs in ensuring the safe, responsible, and accountable management of health resources within the community.
Jefren Lloyd R. Gonzales, RMT, LPT, CMAMP Extension Coordinator, supervised the activity and guided the implementation of the college’s extension initiative.
To further support local health services, ULS donated medicines and supplements to the Barangay Health Unit of Nabbuan. The donation complemented the training by providing additional resources while reinforcing the importance of proper inventory management, documentation, and accountability in medicine distribution.
The Barangay Health Unit expressed its appreciation to the University, the CMAMP Extension Unit, and the volunteer Pharmacy students for sharing their time, expertise, and resources. Local health workers recognized the activity’s contribution to strengthening their capacity to provide quality healthcare services to residents.
The program is part of ULS HealthLink Program, a CMAMP extension initiative that promotes capacity-building, technology transfer, and knowledge sharing to empower community health workers and strengthen community healthcare in partner communities.
The activity also provided Pharmacy students with opportunities to apply their academic knowledge in real-world settings while developing a deeper sense of volunteerism, social responsibility, and service.
Through its partnership with Barangay Nabbuan, ULS continues to advance community-based health initiatives that strengthen local capacities, promote responsible health practices, and support the development of healthier and more resilient communities.
