(ULS) was elected to the National Board of Directors of the Association of Philippine Schools of Midwifery, Inc. (APSOM) during the organization’s 37th Annual Convention, held on May 14 to 15, 2026, at Hotel Benilde Maison de la Salle, Malate, Manila.

The election was conducted during the national gathering attended by deans and heads of schools offering Midwifery programs nationwide, as part of the two‑day convention organized by APSOM.

The 37th APSOM Annual Convention carried the theme “Strengthening Midwifery Education for Universal Health Care 2030,” which emphasized the role of higher education institutions in preparing, managing, and integrating Universal Health Care (UHC) into midwifery curricula. The convention also aimed to help institutions strengthen the competencies of midwives to work effectively within primary health‑care‑oriented systems.

APSOM officials said the annual convention serves as a platform for academic leaders to discuss policy directions, curriculum development, and collaborative strategies in advancing midwifery education across the country.

The election of a ULS representative to the APSOM National Board underscores the university’s active participation in national professional organizations and its continued engagement in discussions shaping midwifery education in the Philippines.
