Santiago City, Philippines – On December 18, 2024, the University of La Salette (ULS) community commemorated the birthday of Rev. Fr. Romeo B. Gonzales, MS, PhD, the first University President of ULS La Salette Missionary and a pivotal figure in the growth of the La Salette Mission of Education.

A mass was held at the University Chapel, Miraculous Medal Building to honor Fr. Gonzales’s legacy. His leadership was instrumental in elevating La Salette of Santiago to a University in 1998, marking a significant milestone in its history.

Following the mass, Rev. Fr. Ian P. Ronquillo, MS, University Chaplain/Director of the Christian Formation Office, blessed the memorial shrine dedicated to Fr. Gonzales. The shrine is located in the front lobby of the ULS Hospital Building Complex.
