ULS Hosts Community Mass; Launches Alay Sa Belen

SANTIAGO CITY – The University of La Salette, Inc. held a community mass this morning, November 14, 2025, at the ULS New Gymnasium, presided over by Rev. Fr. Joseph Christian M. Pilotin, MS.

The Salettinian community gathered in prayer for peace in war-affected countries, for hope and recovery among the victims of Super Typhoon Uwan, for strength for volunteers, and for wisdom for those preparing for upcoming licensure examinations.

In his homily, Fr. Pilotin emphasized the call for every Salettinian to become a living witness to the Gospel, reminding the community that service, compassion, and solidarity are essential expressions of the Salettinian identity. He also invited everyone to continue embodying these values, especially as the Church celebrates the Jubilee Year: Pilgrims of Hope.

During the celebration, the University formally launched Alay sa Belen, its annual outreach program where the entire ULS community—students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partner organizations—comes together to extend gift packs, medical services, legal assistance, and acts of charity to communities in Santiago City and the region.

“We do Alay sa Belen because as Pilgrims of Hope, we believe that Christmas is not complete until we have shared it with those who have less—until our joy overflows into the lives of others. In every act of generosity, every hand that repacked goods, every doctor, lawyer, or volunteer who offered time and expertise—we saw the heart of the true Salettinian spirit. Because here at La Salette, volunteerism is not just an activity—it is our mission, embedded in our core. It fuels our commitment to make the message of reconciliation and the apparition of Our Lady of La Salette known to all,” said the Director of the La Salette Pananagutan Center.

Fr. Pilotin also blessed the volunteers—including the Student Executive Council, various departmental Student Volunteer Associations, The Salettinian Publication, the Philippine Red Cross Youth of ULS, ULS student organizations, ULSEA, NSTP personnel, and alumni—as part of the Jubilee of Volunteers, one of the special observances under the yearlong celebration of the Jubilee Year.

The blessing honored their dedication and encouraged them to continue offering service that reflects the compassion, hope, and unity of the entire ULS community.
