SANTIAGO CITY – ULS Human Development Center in collaboration with the Department of Student Services, set groundbreaking seminar aimed at fostering mental wellness within the university community and beyond. Titled “ARAKUP: Embracing and Taking Action Towards a Loving Community,” underscores the university’s commitment in translating understanding of mental health into concrete steps for change.
May 10, 2025, at the ULS Gymnasium, aligns with the global recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, observed annually in May. This year’s theme, “Turn Awareness into Action,” resonates deeply with the seminar’s objectives stating that the program is meticulously designed to develop concrete steps in addressing mental health, build robust support networks through peer support and community resources, and cultivate safe environments for sharing. Furthermore, the seminar aims to foster a culture of openness to significantly reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues and to equip participants with essential knowledge of Psychological First Aid.
The seminar is specifically designed for first-year students enrolled in NSTP courses, signifying the university’s proactive approach to integrating mental health awareness from the outset of students’ academic journeys.
This initiative by the University of La Salette’s Human Development Center marks a significant step towards creating a more supportive, understanding, and mentally healthy environment for its students and the wider community.
