PACUCOA Visits ULS for Accreditation of 14 Academic Programs

SANTIAGO CITY — The University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS) welcomed accreditors from the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) for the accreditation of 14 academic programs during a visit from February 26 to 28.

The programs evaluated during the visit included Master of Arts in Education, Master in Business Management, and Architecture, which underwent Level II First Reaccreditation; Information Technology, Radiologic Technology, Tourism Management, Social Work, Nursing, Computer Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Medical Laboratory Science, Hospitality Management, and Civil Engineering, which were assessed under a Preliminary Visit; and Pharmacy, which underwent a Level I Formal Visit.

According to PACUCOA Chairman Dr. Ferdinand Somido, the purpose of the program accreditation visit was to help the university strengthen its academic offerings and ensure continuous improvement, rather than to focus on shortcomings.

“We are your big brothers, we are your big sisters. We are not here to mock you, we are not here to belittle you, and we are not here to find faults,” Somido said.

“We are here to find what you have, so that we can help you become a better university.”

Throughout the evaluation period, PACUCOA accreditors conducted document analyses, classroom observations, and closed‑door interviews with selected students from the programs under review, as well as with teaching and non‑teaching personnel involved in program delivery and administration.

Key academic areas such as curriculum relevance, research productivity, and extension initiatives were closely examined to assess each program’s alignment with PACUCOA standards and its responsiveness to current educational and societal needs.

The accrediting team also inspected facilities and learning resources, including laboratories, libraries, and learning resource centers, to evaluate their adequacy in supporting student learning and academic development across the 14 programs.

Each academic program was assessed based on PACUCOA’s established criteria, ensuring a systematic, objective, and outcomes‑based accreditation process.

Following the completion of the evaluation activities, a post‑conference was held at the exhibit room attended by the university prime administrators, deans, office heads and program coordinators.

As the visit concluded, the ULS administration, faculty, and staff expressed their collective gratitude to the PACUCOA accrediting team for their guidance, insights, and support throughout the three‑day program accreditation visit.
