In celebration of the 173rd Establishment Anniversary of La Salette Missionaries, the University of La Salette hosted a Cultural Night on May 2, 2025, at the Center for Professional Development (CPD) building.
The highlight of the evening was the inspiring message delivered by the Superior General of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette, Fr. Jojhon Chettiyakunnel Matthew.

“Only through education, can we transform the society,” Fr. Matthew stated during his address, underlining the crucial role of education in the missionary and societal mission of the La Salette congregation.
The Cultural Night served as a colorful tribute to the Philippines’ rich cultures, with performances of traditional dances from various regions across the archipelago by the Salettinian Dance Troupe.
The Council of Congregation of the Worldwide Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette was treated to dynamic renditions of iconic Filipino dances such as Tinikling, Binasuan, and more.
Aside from dances, they were also serenaded with songs from PRISAA Regional Qualifiers for Vocal Competition; Monique Rosendo, Jelly Dela Cruz, Joielene Ferrer, and Estephanie Amadore.
The event not only honored the missionary legacy of La Salette but also emphasized the value of cultural identity and education as instruments for positive change.
“Be a good news, be a gospel,” said Fr. William Kaliyadan, Provincial Superior of North America, in an interview.
Before the event concluded, the congregation were given the opportunity to experience the culture of the Philippines by dancing the Tinikling and Sissiwit alongside other attendees.
