ULS Observes Red Wednesday

SANTIAGO CITY — The University of La Salette, Inc. joined the global observance of Red Wednesday, an annual initiative raising awareness on the persecution of Christians worldwide, through a series of activities centered on the theme “Living Hope Amidst Suffering,” today, November 26, 2025.

Rev. Fr. Joseph Christian M. Pilotin, MS, and Fr. Andrei Rubico, MS presided the community masses held at the Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Building Chapel and the Sacred Heath Chapel, Hospital Building A, respectively, emphasizing the need to empathize and reflect with fellow Christians who are suffering persecution because of their faith.

Students, faculty, staff, and administrators also wore red attire in suppport of the activity and to stand together with the Catholic Church’s call for solidarity against the oppression of Christians all over the world and the promotion of religious freedom. 

Officials of the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PVNSCA), a partner agency of ULS, and the basic education unit of the university also joined in the obervance of the activity. 

The Red Wednesday began in 2015 organized by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) and was formally institutionalized as an annual observance in the Philippines by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in 2020.
