ULS Hosts Capacity Building Program for Public School Teachers

SANTIAGO CITY – The University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS) conducted a Capacity Building Program for public school teachers, a component of ULS Tarabay, on October 18 at the Salettinian SDG Center, Ground Floor, Center for Professional Development Building.

Public school teachers from Baluarte Elementary School attended the activity, which aimed to provide support for educators. Also present were ULS graduate school faculty members and student-teachers.

The event is composed of three sessions which feature topics aimed to empower teachers and learners through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), increasing financial awareness, and using interactive video lessons to make learning fun.

Shampaine R. Andaya, MAEd, LPT highlighted the importance of SDGs and empowering teachers  and learners in protecting the planet, ensuring prosperity for all, and coming up with a quality education during the first discussion.

While Charlon F. Huan, CPA, MBA, CAT, CTT raised financial awareness, emphasizing smart financial management and personal protection for teachers.

Participants of the program were also taught how to use Edpuzzle, a platform containing different interactive video lessons, to make learning fun introduced by Reymond Dalupang, LPT at the Computer Laboratory, 3rd floor, Ina ng Pag-asa building.

“Very good naman si Edpuzzle sa amin and the SDG goals kanina at tsaka ‘yung financial literacy and ‘yun din talaga ang pinakagusto ko sa Department of Education. Sana mabigyan din kami ng subjects sa financial literacy kasi mga bata ngayon sobrang waldas kaya lumalaki walang pera at nalulubog sa utang,” said Christopher Granil, a teacher and participant of the program who expressed his appreciation and realization on the significance of the event.

Dominick Domingo, LPT stated the program was good and successful and encouraged educators to help implement and promote the SDGs for it is crucial for ensuring quality education in all schools.

The success of the activity marks another milestone in the schools mission to uplift and empower the teaching community through meaningful discussion, reflecting the school’s continued pursuit for quality education.
