ULS Engineering and Architecture Students Map Barangay Nabbuan for Flood Resilience

SANTIAGO CITY – Aiming to reinforce community resilience and enhance preparedness against flooding, the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) and the Geodetic Engineering Students Association (GESA) of the University of La Salette successfully conducted an extension program titled “Salaknib Saletino: Mapping for Resilience and Flood Preparedness” on May 16, 2025, in Barangay Nabbuan, this city.

This initiative was to conduct a comprehensive land mapping activity in Purok 4, Barangay Nabbuan aimed to survey and accurately assess areas most vulnerable to flooding within the community. Faculty members from the CEA, alongside the dedicated officers of GESA and a select group, of engineering students, collaborated to execute the land mapping. Their efforts focused on gathering critical spatial data to identify and delineate flood-prone zones.

The data collected will be instrumental in developing effective strategies for flood mitigation and preparedness within Barangay Nabbuan. This extension program underscores the commitment of the University of La Salette’s College of Engineering and Architecture and its students to leverage technical skills for the benefit of the local community, directly addressing the critical need for enhanced resilience against natural disasters.
