Mission Statement

The mission statement of the University of La Salette High School as an educational institution is to assist the government and the Church through a program of systematic learning experiences that will enable its students to embark on a process of self-discovery and growth in all areas of his life: physical, psychological, socio-cultural, moral and spiritual, and to emerge thereby competent, capable and versatile citizen committed to the betterment of the nation and of the larger community.

In pursuing this mission, University of La Salette High School is guided by the following commitments:

  1. It is Christian in its value system, committed to a belief in the religious and spiritual as a fundamental dimension of man, and to making available academic, social and liturgical avenues for the free pursuit of the Christian faith through a decidedly liberal Christian education. It is an academic community integrating the La Salette Missionaries, the administration and personnel, and the students into a school-centered Basic Christian Community;
  2. As an academic agent for national development, it is committed to fostering the student’s awareness and responsive concern for the role of the individual Christian and the Church in the betterment of immediate society and of the nation. It is committed to helping its students develop the skills of citizenship and leadership needed in a developing country like the Philippines;
  3. It is committed to the service of the larger community by making its type of education accessible to deserving and capable students; by making its physical and human resources readily available and by furthering cooperative efforts with other educational institutions and civic organizations; and
  4. – it is committed to provide and atmosphere of family spirit throbbing with personal presence, availability and challenging experiences that allow people not only to walk together, affirming, supporting, respecting and evoking creative responses and alternative but also to continually grow in intellectual, professional research competencies geared towards the transformation of self, community and society.

Institutional Goals and Objectives

In keeping with its philosophy and mission and the nature of its clientele, the University of La Salette High School has formulated the following goals and objectives:

A. Religious Goals

The fullness of Christian maturity is developed when the individual, knowing the Gospel and integrating its message in his everyday living, becomes a totally committed Christian. University of La Salette High School Department helps each student gain KNOWLEDGE, INSIGHT, and INTERNALIZATION of this Gospel message. This is realized not only by offering formal Religion classes in all year levels but also by integrating religious values in other subject areas and discipline within the curriculum so that the student shall be developing progressively a system of values whereby the Gospel of Christ may pass from the level of awareness to a lived witnessing in service and love for others.

B. Intellectual Goals

University of La Salette high School helps the student gain access to the accumulated culture and knowledge of man, fosters an intellectual curiosity and reverence for life and equips him with skills – manual, visual, vocal which will enable him to give artistic and creative expression of the true, the good and the beautiful and further to contribute to the development of knowledge and culture, so that the processes of education are recognized as the means while HUMAN and SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT as the ultimate ends of education.

C. Social Goals

University of La Salette High School offers a unique corporate witness to the relevance of and the need for religious social values in the Philippine society.

The student shall be actively involved in a Christian learning community which offers varied patterns of personal, social and work interaction among its members- students, faculty and parents.

The student shall develop a responsible concern for the role of the Church and the individual Christian in the problems of their immediate society through active involvement in programs, projects and activities for social, economic and cultural upliftment of the school community.

The student shall develop attitudes of patriotism and nationalism combined with an attitude of mutual respect and understanding for those of the larger society encompassing people of all races, cultures and creeds.

The student shall learn how to function effectively and positively in society through the exercises of his rights and obligations as a responsible agent of change and development to bring about a better barrio, municipality, province and the world.

D. Physical and Psychological Goals

University of La Salette High School aims to foster in the students good attitudes and habits of living conducive to physical and moral health.

The Physical Education, Music and Health Program of the school aims to develop the physical, emotional and social fitness of the students through a carefully selected core of physical activities, sports and games.

The student shall be helped to develop sound patterns and attitudes of health leading to an optimum physical growth and development within his capacity.

The student shall learn how to attain and persevere physical and mental health, the ability to make adaptations and to deal constructively with psychological tensions that characterize the teenage years.

The student shall be exposed to physical development programs that aim at achieving maximum development of bodily coordination, graciousness of movements, agility and balance.

The student shall be led to appreciate the human body and bodily aspects as sacred gifts of God that must be fully developed and utilized for the purposes of which God created them.

Objectives:

1. To provide the student with opportunities to experience his dignity as a human person and understand his basic yearnings in the light of divine revelation in Christ through the offering of a life-oriented curricular program of religious education;

2. To create an atmosphere where the student can celebrate and live meaningfully his fellowship in Christ through a consistent effort of building a school-centered Basic Christian Community;

3. To provide learning opportunities for the student to develop himself, to think critically, judge intelligently, weigh moral values with an upright conscience and make free and responsible decisions;

4. To aid the student to reaffirm and to strengthen a personal value system with emphasis on integrity, magnanimity and passion for truth in a spirit of faith, service and love by exposing him to the eminently SALETTINIAN SPIRITUALITY of PENANCE, PRAYER AND ZEAL;

5. To promote in the student the spirit of true nationalism and patriotism, to enable him to develop a reasoned commitment to the goals of national development, and to provide further opportunities for the development of the student’s appreciation of his cultural heritage;

6. To conscienticize the student regarding the plight of the less privileged, the victims of injustices and oppressions and of his responsibility to participate in enabling the needy to mobilize their inner strength, so that in concerted effort, both rich and poor, the more educated and less educated may effect a positive change for human and just society;

7. To help the student acquire basic occupational skills, knowledge and attitudes essential for obtaining initial gainful employment and for making intelligent choice of occupation or career to become a productive contributor to our developing society;

8. To provide for continuous development and training of the school’s manpower (human resources) so that each individual employee in the particular relationship he finds himself within the school will:

– attain his full potential as a human being,
– enhance the range and quality of his participants in the basic functions of the school,
– further develop into a productive and versatile leader/member of this institution.

9. To assure the physical and financial resources sufficient to meet the needs of the institution for the efficient and effective accomplishment of its goals and objectives through a viable scheme of financing from various sources aside from student fees and through an effective program of development and wise utilization of existing facilities;

so that. . .

at the end of a four year secondary course, the student of the University of La Salette High School shall have been able to:

  1. acquire basic insights into the Catholic Christian Faith and practices evidenced by personal prayer and active participation in community worship;
  2. live a Christian life evidenced by concern, service and appreciation of fellowmen, especially those within everyday contact; and
  3. acquire the basic competence and skills to be able to engage in gainful employment and contribute to nation-building in its various aspects: spiritual and religious, socio-economic, civic, and cultural, at gradually expanding levels of family, community, region, and nation.
  4. begin to assume Christian leadership within a local church (parish and/or barangay) that is rapidly moving towards responsible involvement and commitment of the laity for social transformation; and
  5. acquire an adequate academic background to meet the challenges of collegiate life.

Goals and Objectives

In keeping with the objectives of Secondary Education as stated in Section 9 of the 2002 Education Law and the Private Schools to wit:

a) To continue to promote the objectives of the elementary education, but shifting in emphasis from the mastery of basic tools of learning, expression, and understanding to the use and extension of the tools for further exploring and acquiring intellectual , social, moral and physical concepts, ideals, attitudes and skills in order to develop the whole human being.

b) To discover and enhance, in addition, the different aptitudes and interests of the individual student so as to equip him with skills for productive endeavor and thus prepare him for work in the real world and/or for further formal studies in higher education.

Secondary Education prepares the student for the demands of higher education. It aims to achieve “maximum development of the adolescent to make him effective and efficient in the roles that he will play in the different social groups to which he belongs, whether in the academe or in the work force.”

It ensures:

  1. the development of the cultural, socio-civic, physical, moral and spiritual aspects of the individual;
  2. the development of his sense of membership in a national community;
  3. the development of his intellectual and work skills; and
  4. the development of his values.
