ULS Promotes Responsible, Practical Use of Artificial Intelligence Through AI WISE

The University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS), through its College of Information Technology (CIT), partnered with Agyaman Team and Talents Development Solutions Corporation and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to conduct AI WISE: Empowering Salettinians Toward Responsible and Secure Digital Citizenship.

More than 800 students registered for the activity, which focused on the practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in learning, research, creativity, and productivity. Discussions emphasized the responsible use of AI, including the need to verify information, protect personal data, respect intellectual property, and uphold academic integrity.

Patricia Castro, President and Senior Trainer of Agyaman Team and Talents Development Solutions Corporation, discussed responsible AI use and shared practical ways students can integrate AI into academic work while remaining critical of its outputs and accountable for their learning.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Bienvenido B. Abad Jr., Dean of the College of Information Technology, encouraged students to use AI to strengthen their understanding and expand their capabilities while continuing to think critically and make informed decisions.

The program also featured sessions on digital citizenship and cybersecurity. Jamine Macabangun of DICT discussed cybersecurity awareness, while Marc Ivan Guillermo introduced the eGovPH platform and its role in digital public services.

The initiative also served as a service-learning activity for fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology students, providing them an opportunity to apply their academic knowledge and organizational skills in implementing a university-wide educational program.

In his closing remarks, Reymund C. Dalupang, Program Coordinator of the College of Information Technology, thanked the university administration, partner organizations, resource speakers, faculty members, organizers, and participants for their support.

The activity is part of ULS’s efforts to promote AI literacy, responsible digital citizenship, and ethical technology use among students.
