ULS Sends Off Criminology Students Through Pinning Ceremony

SANTIAGO CITY — The College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) held its first Kick-Off and Pinning Ceremony, themed “A Pilgrimage of Hope Towards a Just Society,” marking the formal start of students’ field training at the University Open Field today, November 14, 2025.

CCJE Dean Gilda C. Octavo, Ph.D., delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing professionalism and commitment to public service.

University President Rev. Fr. Franklin G. Picio, MS, Ph.D., addressed the students, underscoring the importance of integrity and ethical leadership in the criminology profession.

Guest Speaker Rev. Fr. Christian Joseph Pilotin, MS, MA, highlighted the vital role of future criminologists in promoting justice and social responsibility.

The ceremony ended with the formal pinning of students, symbolizing their readiness to uphold the values of the discipline.
