May Flower Devotion Commences at ULS Divine Mercy Chapel

The May Flower Devotion (Flores de Mayo), a cherished Filipino-Catholic tradition honoring the Virgin Mary, commence today at the Divine Mercy Chapel. To be held from May 20th to May 31st, the devotion provided a space for the university community to come together in prayer and express gratitude to Our Lady.

Participants offered flowers before the Marian image at the end of the mass. throughout the event. This act symbolized devotion and reverence for the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The May Flower Devotion served as a beautiful opportunity to foster love for the mother of Jesus, to whom our University is devoted. The Salettinian community expressed their appreciation and hope to continue this tradition in the years to come.

As the Mother of God, she holds a unique place in salvation history. Her perfect love and obedience to Christ serve as an enduring model for all believers.  Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Mary conceived Jesus, the Son of God, bringing about the Incarnation – God becoming one with us to save us.

This “Flores de mayo will be concluded with the traditional Santacruzan in the afternoon of May 31st.

Route: From ULS to the streets of Santiago to St. James Parish Church where Holy Mass will be celebrated.
