PDRRMC organizes 1st DRRM Youth Summit; ULS takes part

The Province of Isabela through the office of Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management (PDRRMC)held its 1st Isabela Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) Youth Summit last July 16-17, 2018 at Japi Hotel, Cauayan City, Isabela.

The Goal of the summit is to instill vigilance and commitment among Isabeleno Youth as potent arms in environmental management and protection.

It was attended by different organization around Isabela namely, Liderni Bro (Libro) Officers, PDRRMC Youth Representatives, SangguniangKabataan Federation Presidents, Local Youth Development Officers (LYDO) and Student Council Presidents and Advisers.

Mr. Nestor F. Abugan Jr., Student Executive Council (SEC) Vice President, and Marjorie S. Magbitang, MPA, Dean of the Office of the Student Services and Affairs, attended the summit as representatives of the council and the University of La Salette, Inc.

”Be a disaster warrior,” Atty. Noel Mannuel Lopez, the Provincial Administrator, said as he highlighted the Provincial Government of Isabela (PGI) Best Practices in DRRM-CCA and as he encouraged the participants to involve themselves in the Disaster Risk Management.

The 2-day seminar had included the following topics; the R.A. 10121 of the Disaster Management Law discussion, Typhoon Monitoring and Cascading DRRM Information, the Roles of the Youth in the Disaster Preparedness and the Essence of Volunteerism during Relief Operations.

“The manner of conduction was organized, the topics were really beneficial and the objective of the training workshop, to inform and capacitate the youth, was successful,” Mrs. Marjorie S. Magbitang said. She also appreciated the organizers for organizing this unusual event for the youth.

The seminar ended through inspirational messages given by Hon. Faustino G. Dy III, Provincial Governor of Isabela, and Hon. Tonypet Albano, Provincial Vice Governor of Isabela.
